THE 40th Bombay YMCA State Level athletic championships, witnessed a rare feat performed by the athletes with as many as 27 new meet records set, nine records bettered and four meet records equalled, at Sports Authority of India, Kandivali in the four-day meet.
Athletes Aishwarya Mishra, aggregated 20 points- the highest in the competition – and Atul Salunke of Sports Authority of India, who notched up 11` points, were adjudged the best women and men athlete in the competition. Incidentally, women/girls athletes accounted for 23 of these 40 records, while their counterpart men/boys figured in the remaining 17 events.
The Individual champions (with pts in bracket) in varies categories were:
WOMEN: Aishwarya Mishra (Abhuday SC, Mulund) – 20 pts. MEN: Atul Salunke (SAI, Kandivali) -13 pts
GIRLS: U-18: Nidhi Singh (Achcievers SC, Thane) – 11pts. U-16: Michelle Fernandes (Holy Cross, Thane – 11 pts. U-14: Nicole Franco (Prabodhan, Goregaon)- 13 pts. U-12: Srushti Shetty (Children’s Aca SC) – 13 pts. U-10: Isha Ramteke (Track & Fields Masters, Thane) -0 15 pts. U-8: Zuhayr Khan (Chemmbur Trackmasters)- 8 pts.
BOYS U-18: Shivam Yadav (SAI, Kandivali) – 13 pts. U-16: Preet Surve (Seven Stars, Thane) – 13 pts. U-14: Ashish Gupta (SAI, Kandivali) – 9 pts. U-12: Vishal Mali (Ryan Int., Kandivali) – 13 pts. U-10: Neet Kasar (Udayachal, Vikhroli) -18 pts. U-8: Zuhayr Khan (Chembur Trackmasters)- 8 pts.
